Unburned
“Well there it is again!”  It happened enough times to eliminate the chance factor.  Johnie Evans of the Rome Fire Marshals office became a driver for the Fire Department in 1979; while he worked the different fire sites he saw the phenomenon three to five times.
He isn’t the only one to testify of the miraculous finding of a Bible unscathed in the rubble of a fire site, after a fire destroys everything else.  Gary Garland of the Rome Fire Marshals office has also seen the wondrous phenomenon.  Driving for station 9 back in 1983, he found a barely scorched Bible near the pulpit area of Oak Grove Baptist Church, which burned down just a few days before their 150th anniversary.  “I wasn’t that surprised,” said Garland.  “God’s gonna preserve His Word no matter what.”  He also said he has heard of this same thing from most all of the other firefighters.
“There are a lot of things that do not get burned in a fire,” says Johnie Evans, “but when you see the Bible remain unscorched 3 to 5 different times, you begin to understand.  You cannot destroy the Lords Word.”
Garland also told of an incident when the Lord saved on of His churches from burning.  They got a call for a fire in a church with no sprinkler system. Upon arriving at the scene, the fire was out.  The neighbors said they had heard the sprinkler system go on.
What actually happened was that an arsonist set the fire in a closet that just happened to have a water heater line running from the attic.  The plastic water line melted in the heat of the fire and burst, putting out the flames and saving the church from utter destruction.  No doubt God is at work showing His hand and His miraculous wonders.  Rome’s Firefighters have seen it first hand.
