Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is His reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. Happy is
the man who has his quiver full of them.
PSALM 127:3-5
Summer is almost here and all through the town you hear parents complaining about the kids being home. What a shame. I love to be with my kids. In fact I am looking forward to summer. I have four children, and I have found the best way to keep the kids from aggravating me is to have a plan. Kids get wild and crazy when they are not given guidance and direction. I have a plan; I use my plan nearly every year. It is called "Theme Weeks". Each year we take the calendar and name the weeks of summer with a theme. This year we are all set, our weeks are planned. We have Beach Week, Sports Week, Horse Week, Hawaiian Week, Mountain Bluegrass Week, Indian Week, Beauty Week and of coarse, Christmas in July Week.
This is how the themes work for me. Each Monday we go to the library and check out books on the weekly theme, movies and music can also be included. We plan a craft to go along with the theme, and a field trip. We eat meals that correlate and find any and everything to do that relates. We hardly ever get board. On Beach Week, we're going to
visit Nana in Florida. On sports week we will play sports, and maybe visit a Braves game. You guessed it on horse week we will go horseback riding. Hawaiian week we
have a luau with friends planned as a birthday party. Indian week falls on Cherokee's Pow Wow and we hope to visit for that, we will make tee pees, learn about Indian symbols, look for Indian artifacts in the woods (arrowheads and such), we could visit Etowah Indian M o u n d s. You're only limited by your imagination. Kids are fun to be
with. Be one, have some fun too.
Blessings,
